Learning to perform duets on the piano encompasses various benefits for the student. Musically speaking, they strengthen the students’ melody and rhythmic perception, allow them to learn how to play complementary melodies, and help them develop their counting and hearing skills, while remaining expressive during the performance.
It takes practice, great effort, and the ability to listen and collaborate harmoniously in order for a musical duet to properly deliver both emotion and proficiency. Being part of a duo team, the student learns what it means to rely on their partner and vice versa; a crucial confidence building point, which further encourages them to keep on playing.
